CADD FUNd ADVANCES ARTISTIC ENDEAVORS THROUGH SUNDAY SOUP SUPPER

The 2015 CADD FUNd was awarded to Rachel Rushing for her Oak Cliff artist-run studio and exhibition space, Sunset Art Studios. Named after the former Sunset Streetcar Line, Sunset Art Studios is a culturally invested art space. A group of local artists develop their work at the studios while providing the neighboring community opportunities to directly engage in the process of art.

About CADD FUNd

The 2015 CADD FUNd awarded a financial prize. Funds were raised by ticket sales and went to the winner chosen by the audience.

Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas commemorated creativity and community with a Sunday Soup Supper at Trinity Groves. CADD FUNd was an engaging, fast-paced evening designed to communicate innovative ideas about potential artistic projects. CADD FUNd makes possible a high-impact project that harnesses the support of the DFW arts community.

Inspired by similar events throughout the United States such as Feast in Brooklyn, Incubate in Chicago and Spread in Santa Fe, over the past several years varied organizations have utilized the basic premise of a Sunday soup dinner: collect creative proposals, invite the public to pay, eat, and listen, and then democratically vote for a winner who will enhance the local art conversation.

CADD FUNd applicants must be a current or previous B.A, B.F.A., M.A. or M.F.A. graduate or candidate from an institution within 100 miles of Dallas. Six finalists are chosen by three venerated jurors. Past jurors have included: Gabriel Ritter, Judy Deaton, William Rudolph, Michael Mazurak, Jed Morse and Justine Ludwig.

During the event, finalists present short proposals for original and yet-to-be-realized projects. After votes are tallied during a short recess, the winner of CADD FUNd will be announced that evening.
